Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – Freshman first baseman Katie Ruwe delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to help Nebraska-Kearney sweep a double header from Lincoln, 5-2 and 3-2, Saturday afternoon at Dryden Park.
These were the final games for both teams. UNK (13-29, 8-18) ends on a three-game win streak while the Blue Tigers fall to 14-25-1 (6-20).
In the night cap, UNK jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two complete as junior left fielder
Mackenzie Tomlin (Grand Island) hit a two out, two-run single to center. Lincoln, however, came back to tie things thanks to a solo homer by pitcher Star McLeod (4-9) in the fourth and an RBI double by right fielder Brianna Akers in the fifth.
With two down in the Loper seventh, sophomore shortstop
Mallory Noakes (Lincoln SW) drew a walk to keep UNK alive. She then moved to second on a passed ball and scored an unearned run when Ruwe (Blair) hit a single to left that just eluded the Lincoln shortstop.
Bennington junior
Bailey Backhuus earned her third win by striking out four and allowing no hits in 2.1 innings with starter
Taryn Trosper (Grand Island) giving up just two earned with four K's in 4.2 innings.
UNK took advantage of three Blue Tiger errors to score three unearned runs in the game one. The Lopers broke a one all tie in the third when Ruwe (2 for 3) had an RBI single and then came around to score thanks to an error in the outfield.
Tomlin (2 for 3, two runs) joined Ruwe as Lopers to have a multi-hit game while Papillion senior
Becky Dunn (3-7) came off the DL to toss a five-hit complete game.
Fanning four and walking none, she allowed one earned in her 73
rd and final appearance as a Loper. Dunn is UNK's only senior this season.
