With the MIAA victory, the Griffons (5-6, 1-4) stop a six-game skid while UNK falls to 5-7 (2-4).

Holding teams to 60.8 points per game on the season, Western flashed some of that defense early on as they led 9-0 by the 12:47 mark of the first half. Eventually building a 19-point cushion, they didn't let UNK get closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Kearney never warmed up on the offensive end, shooting 20.9% (9 of 43). The Lopers did sink three triples and went 25 of 37 at the line as the Griffons committed 29 fouls

Western, which was out rebounded by eight but took advantage of 26 turnovers, had no one in double digits but 10 players scored at least two points with five having between six and eight. Â
Shooting 36% (18 of 50) from the field and sinking 17 free throws, the Griffons were led by Tiara Hall, who had 13 rebounds and seven points.

Ten different Lopers were in the scoring column with senior guard
Nicole Arp (Kearney H.S.) having a team-high eight. Making six free throws, she also had three steals and two assists. Â
Off the bench, guards Sydney Seberger (Lexington) and
Alexa Hogberg (Hamilton, Ariz.) each scored seven points.
