LaRose Currie recorded a double double to help the 4th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team sweep Lindenwood (-18, -16, -19) Friday night at the Health & Sports Center.
The Lopers (23-2, 15-2) remain in sole possession of first place in the MIAA while the Lions fall to 5-20 (2-15).
On "Senior Night", UNK hit just .174, 83 points below its season average and snapping a string of eight straight matches hitting above .200. A strong blocking team, Lindenwood finished with 10.0 team stuffs.
However, the Lions had 24 kills and 22 errors on offense to hit .018. Thirteen of those kills came in set one as LWU hit below zero in each of the final two sets.
Currie (Vail, Colo.) paced Kearney with 13 kills, 11 digs and a .321 attack percentage. This marks her second double double of the fall, the other coming last Saturday vs. Southwest Baptist (10 kills and 12 digs).
Off the bench, junior right side
Kelle Carver (Shawnee Mission, Kans.) had nine kills and hit .375 with senior libero
Liz McGowan (G.I. Central Catholic) recording 24 digs, just 10 off her school record for digs in a three-set match.
Getting the start on the right side, senior
Steph Brand (G.I. Central Catholic) recorded a kill in her only attempt. Finally, junior setter
Erin Seele (Johnstown, Colo.) provided 34 assists, six digs, five kills, three blocks and an ace.
Lindenwood got eight kills and 14 digs from Jessica Krygsheld.
UNK hosts 21st-ranked Central Missouri tomorrow night.
