Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women's basketball team steps out of conference this Saturday to face the Division II independent South Dakota Mines Hardrockers.

These clubs have met three times over the last two years, UNK claiming two wins in Kearney, 76-75 and 59-55, with SDMT winning in Rapid City, 68-60.
The 'Rockers (3-5), who will join the RMAC next season, are coming off a 70-60 home win over NAIA foe Rocky Mountain College (Mont.). They are 2-5 vs. D2 competition, falling to nationally-ranked Wayne State, 92-43, and Northern State, 68-39. UNK lost to those clubs as well; 78-50 to Wayne and 61-45 to the Wolves.
Scoring 54.5 points per game, Mines is shooting 34.5% from the field and 63.5% from the line. Having a - 4.4 turnover margin, they also get out boarded by five a night.
A balanced attack has only one player in double figures in 6-1 sophomore center Megan Rohrer (10.5). She has gone 24 of 37 at the line and shoots 37% from the field. Rohrer also has a team-best 12 blocks and pulls down 4.5 rebounds per game.
Among other 'Rockers, 6-0 junior wing Devyn Asche is at 8.4 points 6.4 rebounds per game. Last winter in Kearney, Asche had a double double (21 pts. & 13 rebs.) with Rohrer having 14 points and seven boards in a one-point setback.
Coming off losses to MIAA foes Missouri Southern State (T-18th nationally) and Southwest Baptist, the Lopers hope to get back on the winning track.
Sporting a 2-1 road record, UNK has been stellar in its three wins, outscoring the competition by an average of 28 points, 97-69. The Lopers are shooting 51% in victory as well as having a plus 15 rebounding margin.
Overall, Kearney ranks in the conference's top three in scoring (79.2), three point shooting (40.4%) and offensive boards (15.3).
Individually, in the MIAA, Trenton junior guard
Laramey Lewis ranks in the top 10 in nine different categories, leading in 3-point percentage (50%), steals (2.6 per game) and minutes (38.4).
Not to be outdone, senior post
Amarah Williams (St. Louis Mo.) is in the top 10 in five different categories, ranking first on the team in scoring (18.3) and rebounds (8.9). She has been efficient, making 76% of her free throws and 55% from the field.
UNK remains away from home next week as they visit Lincoln (Thursday) and Lindenwood (Saturday) for the first time as an MIAA member.
