Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney softball team begins the 2014 season this weekend with six games at the 8-State Classic in Bentonville, Ark.

The University of Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms are tournament hosts; UAM is located about five hours Southeast of Bentonville, home of Walmart.

Twenty-eight games are scheduled each day across seven different fields at Memorial Park and Bentonville High School.

UNK is scheduled to face Minnesota-Duluth from the Northern Sun, East Central (Okla.), Southern Nazarene (Okla.) and UAM from the Great American and Rockhurst (Mo.) and William Jewell (Mo.) of the Great Lakes Valley.

There will be no live stats but UAM will update scores as they come in and UNK Athletics will try and pass along information as it becomes available. For the tournament web page, go HERE.

UNK returns the majority of its roster off last year's 13-29 (8-18) team, including a seven-member senior class.
