Shelby Zimmerman, and scored the game's last seven points, to beat Northeastern State, 61-58, Wednesday night at the Health & Sports Center.

The Lopers (9-16, 5-13) are now in a three-way tie for 11th place in the MIAA standings with Missouri Western State and Southwest Baptist. The top 12 teams make the league tournament, which begins Monday at campus sites.
As luck would have it, SBU hosts Mo West Saturday night.

Trailing almost the entire way, UNK found itself down 58-54 with 3:12 to go after NSU starter Kate Bellamy made one of two free throws.

A minute later, Zimmerman (Beatrice) sunk two free throws and then she stole the ball to setup a layup by Williams (St. Louis, Mo.) about 30 seconds later. Â
After getting a stop, UNK saw senior point guard
Nicole Arp (Kearney H.S.) go one of two at the line with 57 seconds left.

The Lopers managed to rebound the missed free throw but didn't connect on a three from the corner. NSU, with a chance to take the lead, missed a driving layup with 15 seconds to go.
Williams finished the scoring by making two freebies soon after. NSU could've forced overtime but didn't get a shot off in time.

The Lopers overcame 29.2% shooting (19 of 65) by scoring 26 points off 20 RiverHawk turnovers, having a plus 15 margin on the offensive glass (18-3) and by going 17 of 23 (73.9%) at the line.

Williams finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds (seven offensive). Eighteen of her points came after the break as she went 6 of 11 from the field. Â
Zimmerman had 12 points and 10 boards (seven defensive) to record her sixth double double of 2014. Like Williams, she made eight free throws.

Next, Trenton sophomore
Laramey Lewis had 11 points, four assists, four boards and two steals. Off the bench, Lexington sophomore Sydney Seberger hit two threes and had three rebounds in 12 minutes.

The RiverHawks (10-15, 7-11), which shot 48.9% from the floor, got 19 points from freshman reserve Mya Walker.
