Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – Junior Max Ayoub went 3 for 3 and newcomer Coby Roming knocked in a pair of runs to help Nebraska-Kearney beat Southwest Baptist, 7-4, in the second game of a double header Thursday afternoon in Tishomingo, Okla.

The Bearcats (2-6, 2-4) rallied to win the first game, 8-6. The series was originally scheduled to be at SBU but moved to Murray State Junior College due to weather and field conditions.

After seeing a 4-1 lead evaporate in game one, the Lopers (9-3, 3-3) saw the 'Cats score four in its half of the fourth to tie the night cap.

UNK moved back ahead in the sixth when junior center fielder Brandon Landanger (Kearney H.S.) hit a sac fly to left to score freshman third baseman Josh Kiger (3 for 5).

The Lopers added some insurance runs in the ninth when Roming (2 for 5) laced a two-run double to bring home Ayoub (Grand Island) and junior Anthony Pacheco (2 for 5, two runs).

A three-run Kearney fourth included a solo homer by Pacheco (Kearney Catholic H.S.) and an RBI double from freshman DH Dallas Schramm (Millard North).

Junior newcomer Aaron Smith (Cheyenne, Wyo.) did some yeoman's work in relief of fellow southpaw Daniel LeDuc (Lincoln Pius). He struck out three and walked one in four innings of scoreless relief.

LeDuc, in his first collegiate start, blanked SBU for two innings, with North Platte sophomore Joe Smidt earning his first save of 2014.

Southwest Baptist managed to win game one thanks to scoring a total of eight runs between the fourth and sixth innings.

Five runs crossed home plate in the sixth after two were out. Third baseman Spencer Blacksher (3 for 4, two runs & three RBI's) belted a two-run homer with center fielder Christian Binger having a three-run double.

For UNK, Ayoub (2 for 3) hit a dinger in the ninth with Kearney natives Drew Butler and Dillon Schroeder each going 3 for 4.

The two teams play another double header on Friday; first pitch is set for noon.
