Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Six-four junior post Kate Lehman scored a career-high 33 points and finished one block short of a triple double as the 25th-ranked Fort Hays State Tigers beat Nebraska-Kearney, 85-67, Wednesday night at the Health & Sports Center.

Hays (16-4, 9-4) improves to 5-4 on the road while the Lopers slip to 7-13 (3-10).

Ahead the entire way, the Tigers held early leads of 7-0 and 20-6. UNK used a 13-6 run late in the first half to get the deficit to 10 points, only to see Hays go on a spurt of its own to lead 40-24 at the break.

Once again out rebounding its opponent, UNK trailed 42-31 after a three by senior
Nicole Arp (Kearney H.S.) two minutes into the second half. The Tigers quickly regrouped, building a 25 point cushion before the Lopers got within 12 by the 1:30 mark.

Lehman, who recently recorded the second-ever triple double in Hays history, reached her point total by going 11 of 17 from the field and 11 of 14 at the line. Having 13 rebounds (11 defensive), she had nine blocks, seven in the second half.

Her presence held UNK to a 32% (24 of 75) shooting, including a frigid 9 of 37 (24%) effort in the first half. The Tigers also scored 18 points off 19 Kearney turnovers.

The Lopers did go 7 of 18 from the three point line and had a plus five rebounding margin, 51-46.

Amarah Williams (St. Louis) and

Shelby Zimmerman got hot after break, scoring 11 of her 14.

In double figures for the fourth time in the last six games, Lewis also had a career-high 13 rebounds, making this her second double double of the year.

Besides Lehman, Bellevue lefty Chelsea Mason came off the bench and made five threes to tally 19 with Dwight sophomore Beth Bohuslavsky at 10 points, seven assists and three steals.
