Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – Sophomore first baseman
Kate Ruwe hit a two out, walk-off single to help Nebraska-Kearney rally past Chadron State, 4-3, in the second game of a double header Tuesday afternoon at Dryden Park.
The Eagles (24-20) took the first game, 2-0. This double header was originally scheduled for March but postponed due to weather.
In the night cap, Chadron left fielder Jessica Eatmon (2 for 3) hit a two-out single in the top of the seventh with the game tied at two. She then stole second, moved to third on a fielding error and then came home on a throwing miscue.
UNK (12-26) responded quickly when senior catcher
Jen Kramer (North Platte) led off the bottom of the inning with a double to right center. Pinch runner Sam Liebmann (Valencia, Calif.) took second on a passed ball and tied the game when senior center fielder
Whitney Frederick (Blair) hit a single up the middle.
Back-to-back bunt singles, travelling a combined four feet, loaded the bases with no outs. However, Eagle starter Breeze Phillips (2-2) put down the next two Lopers in order.
That brought Ruwe (Blair) to the plate, who recorded her second hit of the game with a line drive to left that scored Frederick. In the sixth, Ruwe (2 for 4) hit a single to center to knot things at two.
