Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – Sophomore first baseman Kate Ruwe hit a two out, walk-off single to help Nebraska-Kearney rally past Chadron State, 4-3, in the second game of a double header Tuesday afternoon at Dryden Park.
 
The Eagles (24-20) took the first game, 2-0. This double header was originally scheduled for March but postponed due to weather.
 
In the night cap, Chadron left fielder Jessica Eatmon (2 for 3) hit a two-out single in the top of the seventh with the game tied at two. She then stole second, moved to third on a fielding error and then came home on a throwing miscue.
 
UNK (12-26) responded quickly when senior catcher Jen Kramer (North Platte) led off the bottom of the inning with a double to right center. Pinch runner Sam Liebmann (Valencia, Calif.) took second on a passed ball and tied the game when senior center fielder Whitney Frederick (Blair) hit a single up the middle.
 
Back-to-back bunt singles, travelling a combined four feet, loaded the bases with no outs. However, Eagle starter Breeze Phillips (2-2) put down the next two Lopers in order.
 
That brought Ruwe (Blair) to the plate, who recorded her second hit of the game with a line drive to left that scored Frederick. In the sixth, Ruwe (2 for 4) hit a single to center to knot things at two.
 
Bennington senior Bailey Backhuus threw a complete game six-hitter to earn her second win of 2014. She fanned seven and walked just two while blanking Chadron for four straight innings.
 
Backhuus tossed the final 3.1 innings in game one as Grand Island junior Taryn Trosper was hit in the nose by a line drive. While an out was recorded on the play, Trosper had to leave the game after allowing no earned runs in 3.2 innings.
 
Chadron scored an unearned run in the first and used two hits, two walks and a passed ball to add an insurance run in the fifth.
 
Kylee Polsley (14-6) went the first four innings to pick up the win with Aryn Grywusiewicz throwing the final three to earn her first save of the spring
 
Ralston freshman Taylre Keenan had two of UNK's six hits.
 
The Lopers play an MIAA double header Saturday at Fort Hays State. The Tigers then return to Kearney on Sunday for a non-conference double dip at noon.
