UNK Sweeps RMAC Member

Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska-Kearney middle hitters Katie Weber and Bailey Sokolowski combined for 20 kills and just two errors to help the 6th-ranked Lopers sweep Adams State (-15, -26, -11) Friday evening in Pueblo, Colo.

The match was a part of the Steel & Silver Classic. Earlier in the day, UNK (6-0) beat CSU-Pueblo in four sets.

Returning to her home state, Weber (Greeley) smashed home a team-best 14 kills and hit .600 to pace the offense. She also had one of the Lopers four solo blocks; as a unit, UNK had 9.0 blocks.

Sokolowski (Kearney Catholic), meanwhile, had six kills and no errors in 12 attempts to hit .500.

While the Blue & Gold controlled the first and third sets, Adams (3-3) put up a big fight in the second. There were 12 ties and two lead changes with the Grizzlies fighting off three set points. Finally, UNK went ahead 2-0 in the match on the strength of a Sokolowski kill and an unforced hitting error by Adams.

Also for the Lopers, senior outside Liz McGowan (G.I. Central Catholic) had nine kills, six digs, three blocks (two solo) and hit .412. Finally, sophomore Annie Wolfe (Omaha Marian) had a team-best 10 digs and two aces.

Adams was paced by their star, Lindsey Stindt with 12 kills, three digs and two blocks.

UNK faces St. Martin's (Wash.) and Colo.-Colo. Springs on Saturday.
