Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – The 6th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team remain undefeated after sweeping St. Martin's (-14, -18, -12) and Colorado-Colorado Springs (-13, -15, -13) Saturday in Colorado.
The matches were part of the Steel & Silver Classic. UNK (8-0) beat St. Martin's in Pueblo and UCCS in Colorado Springs.
In the afternoon, UNK hit .385 while holding SMU (2-7) to a .096 effort. Sophomore middle
Katie Weber (Greeley, Colo.) had a team-high 11 kills and hit .333 with junior
Kelle Carver (Shawnee Mission, Kans.) and sophomore
Kinslie TeKolste (Lincoln SE) having 10 kills apiece.
From the right side, Carver hit .450 with TeKolste at a team-best .600. Defensively, freshman outside
LaRose Currie (Vail, Colo.) had 10 digs with Kansas junior
MJ Massanet having 11.
Against the Lions (3-5) in the evening, UNK got 12 kills and a .647 hitting efficiency from sophomore middle
Bailey Sokolowski (Kearney Catholic). As a team, UNK hit .358 while holding UCCS to a .040 effort.
TeKolste had seven kills and no errors in 17 swings with Weber hitting .400 and recording five kills. Senior
Liz McGowan (G.I. Central Catholic) led the defense with 12 digs and two blocks.
UNK hosts Fort Hays State, Central Oklahoma and Missouri Southern State next week.
