Kearney, Neb. - The 13th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team has six MIAA matches left, four against Missouri Southern State and Southwest Baptist.
The Lopers (21-5, 9-3) are at SBU (3-19, 1-10)
Friday night and then head over to MSSU (2-20, 1-10) on Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats visit Kearney on Nov. 13th with the Lions stopping by Nov. 14th to close out the regular season.
SBU owns wins over MSSU, Kentucky Wesleyan and Bellarmine, Ky. The 'Cats are led by second-year head coach Caira Dortch and feature seven true freshmen and five seniors.
Five-nine junior outside Taryn Marton leads the team in kills (2.49) with senior middle Payton White second (2.05). The opposition is averaging just over 2.00 team blocks per set with senior Hannah Blount at a team-best 4.61 digs per set.
Missouri Southern, which plays Fort Hays State on Friday, has lost four straight but two of those setbacks came in five sets. They've swept Arkansas-Monticello and Pittsburg State in Joplin to record their two wins. Â Â
An 11-person roster features three players from Carl Junction, Mo., with senior middle Payton Graves (2.28) and 5-9 freshman Bridgette Jaeger (2.24) leading the offense and 6-1 senior Callie Whetstone averaging a block per set.
UNK has won four in a row after sweeping Peru State Wednesday in the Health & Sports Center. The Lopers have a true 4-4 road record in 2015, winning at Hays, Emporia, Lindenwood and Pitt.
