Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 Kearney, Neb. – The Minnesota State Mavericks scored seven runs after two outs to rally past Nebraska Kearney, 14-9, early Sunday morning in St. Cloud, Minn.

The game was a part of the Kelly Laas Memorial/MIAA-NSIC Crossover Invite.

Featuring 23 runs on 22 hits and 17 walks, the Loper/Maverick tilt didn't wrap up until well past midnight Sunday morning. UNK then had to turn around and play less than 12 hours later where it lost to Wayne State, 13-5, and No. 23 Augustana, 17-8, Sunday afternoon.

The Lopers built a 5-0 over Mankato (4-5) but the Mavs used a series of walks, wild pitches and a double to score five times in its half of the second.

The fateful sixth saw MSU cross home plate seven times to erase an 8-7 deficit. Three doubles brought home a total of four runs, including one from DP Mandi Mauch (2 for 2, two runs).

UNK, which batted .296 in the tournament to average seven runs per game, was led by leadoff hitter Rebecca Wyatt (3 for 5, four runs & four steals) and two RBI efforts from juniors Erin Dwyer (Elmwood), Cassie Roessing (Phoenix, Arz.) and Kate Ruwe (Blair).

The Lopers had seven hits in the loss to Wayne (3-2) with junior 3b Makenzi Dallas going 2 for 3 with two runs. Wayne picked up the win by scoring in five of the six innings, including a five-run third.

Finally, Augustana had 11 hits and took advantage of eight walks and five hit batters to score in all five innings. Committing seven errors, the Vikings crossed home plate nine times in the second thanks to a three-run homer, a two-run double and two UNK errors.

Ruwe (1 for 3) knocked in two more runs with Wyatt (Glendale, Ariz.) scoring twice and stealing another base. She is now 9 for 9 on the year in that department.

Weather permitting, Kearney will play four games at Missouri Southern State next weekend.
