Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Six-four senior center Kate Lehman had another double double and the 3rd-ranked Fort Hays State women's basketball team scored 21 points off 17 turnovers to beat Nebraska Kearney, 69-52, Thursday night in Kansas.
The Tigers (21-1, 13-0) push its win streak to 20 straight while UNK is now at the .500 mark (11-11, 5-8).
Facing one of the MIAA's top defensive teams, the Lopers shot 42% in the second half to tally 34 points. Making 7 of 16 three pointers on the night, UNK whittled down a 21-point deficit to a 55-45 score with 6:11 left.
A three from junior
Laramey Lewis (Trenton) could've brought Kearney even closer but the shot rimmed out and the Tigers finished on a 14-7 run.
Averaging 20.5 points, 10.7 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per game, Lehman almost matched those numbers as she ended with 17 points, 15 boards and five blocks. She made 6 of 12 shots and was 5 of 10 at the line in playing 27 minutes.
Dwight junior guard Beth Bohuslavsky (11) was the only other Tiger in double figures but five others were between six and nine points.
Hays didn't have a great night offensively, going 15 of 23 at the line (65%) and sinking 2 of 10 three pointers. They did out rebound UNK, 39-38, and shot 45% (26 of 58) from the field.

Amarah Williams (St. Louis, Mo.) and freshman guard
McKenzie Brown (Grand Island NW H.S.) combined to score 24 of UNK's second half points. Williams worked around four fouls to go 8 of 14 from the field and score 17 with Brown making half her threes (4 of 8) to also tally 17.
Finally, Lewis had a team-high 10 rebounds (four offensive), five points, two assists and two steals with Nevada sophomore wing
Tori Payne coming off the bench to supply five rebounds, three points, an assist and a steal.
UNK hosts Washburn (14-7, 6-7) Saturday night.
