Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – The Colorado Christian softball team hit six home runs and got two complete games on the mound to sweep a doubleheader from Nebraska-Kearney, 14-5 and 11-1, Wednesday afternoon at a chilly Dryden Park.
A former RMAC rival, CCU improves to 13-17 while UNK falls to 7-20.
In game two, first baseman Sarah Rasmussen hit her seventh and eighth homers of the year, finishing 2 for 2 with two runs and five RBI's. Christian scored five in the first and six in the fifth to record the win.
The Cougars had just seven hits in the win as Loper freshman
Meg Housholder (Parker, Colo.) threw four shutout innings. However, designated player Michaela Barr (2 for 3, four RBI's) hit a three-run shot in the sixth and CCU took advantage of three UNK errors to score three unearned runs in the first.
On the mound, Tana Feiner improved to 9-6 as she struck out seven Lopers and gave up only five hits. UNK was paced by leadoff hitter
Rebecca Wyatt (Glendale, Ariz.), who went 2 for 3 with a run scored.
Mariah Bledsoe (12-9) went the distance in game one, walking none and fanning three in five full innings. She worked around 12 hits and gave up just three earned runs.
CCU tallied five in the second, three in the third and four more in the fifth. Leadoff hitter Jessica Romine (3 for 4, two runs & four RBI's) and right fielder Alex Coffing (3 for 4, two runs & three RBI's) each went deep and paced a 13-hit attack.
Wyatt (3 for 3, two RBI's) and Ralston sophomore
Taylre Keenan (2 for 2, two RBI's) led the Lopers. Wyatt (.407) joins junior 1b
Kate Ruwe (.453) as Lopers currently batting over .400 on the season.
UNK hosts Central Oklahoma Friday and Northeastern State on Saturday.
