Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney baseball team had 35 hits, including nine home runs, to sweep a double header from Lincoln University, 20-2 and 13-0 (7 innings), Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.
This series was moved from Jefferson City, Mo., to Kearney due to weather. In all four games, UNK (19-10, 13-5) serves as the visiting club.
To score 35 runs, the Lopers had nine doubles and two homers in game one and a triple and seven long balls in the night cap. UNK scored in 11 of the 14 innings with the second contest ending after seven due to the MIAA 10-run rule.
Senior catcher/left fielder
Max Ayoub (Grand Island) finished the day 4 for 7 with five runs and eight RBI's. He hit two HR's in the second game and also had one in the first, pushing his season total to 11 and his career total to 27, ninth most in school history.
Next, junior outfielder
Anthony Pacheco (Kearney Catholic H.S.) went 4 for 4 with four runs in six RBI's in game one and then was 2 for 5 in the next game. He had a three-run shot to right in game one, his eighth dinger of the year.
Finally at the plate, leadoff hitter
Shane Sharkey (McKinney, Texas) went deep twice in the night cap, his first two HR's as a Loper. He finished the contest 2 for 3 with two runs and three RBI's.
On the mound, true freshman
Mitchell Robinson (Golden, Colo.) improved to 4-0 by throwing a complete game six-hitter in the night cap. He fanned five and walked just one as Lincoln stranded five.
Junior
Jacob Dittman (Colo. Springs, Colo.) won another start, going the entire way in game one to now be at 2-2. He shut out the Blue Tigers (1-21, 1-13) until the seventh as he struck out four, walked one and allowed just six singles and a double.
