Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – The Washburn Ichabods hit four home runs and got complete games from senior Lauren Thimmesch and junior Taylor Kemp to sweep a double header from Nebraska-Kearney, 9-3 and 8-0 (5 innings), Friday afternoon in Topeka, Kan.
 
Washburn is now 22-17 (10-8) while the Lopers fall to 12-25 (10-12).
 
UNK's offense was held in check as Thimmesch (15-6) allowed eight hit in the first game with Kemp (2-4), a lefty, giving up only four in the shortened nightcap. The pair also combined for four strikeouts and two walks.
 
In game one, the 'Bods took the lead for good in the third when sophomore left fielder Jordan Erickson hit a two-run homer and junior second baseman Taylor Zimmerman followed with a solo shot three batter later.
 
Erickson (3 for 4, two runs) had another two-run dinger in a six-run sixth as Washburn finished with 10 hits, five going for extra bases.
 
Junior Cassie Roessing (Phoenix, Ariz.) took the loss but fanned seven and also belted a two-run shot, her team-leading fifth of the year, in the fourth. Finally, junior center fielder Paige Hamelin (Payson, Ariz.) went 3 for 3 from the nine hole.
 
Washburn struck early in the next game, crossing home plate three times in the first and twice in the second. The 'Bods then scored three more runs over the fourth and fifth innings.
 
From the designated player spot, Thimmesch (2 for 3) had a two-run double in the second with junior catcher Kristen Bell having a two-run single in the first. Nine hole hitter Megan Stegman then delivered a two-run homer in the fourth.
 
The Lopers were led by leadoff hitter Rebecca Wyatt (Glendale, Ariz.), who went 2 for 2 and her 35th and 36th steals, with freshman Meg Housholder (Parker, Colo.) throwing 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
 
UNK is at nationally-ranked Emporia State Saturday afternoon.
