Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney baseball team is the sixth seed in the 2015 MIAA Tournament and will play a best-of-three series at third-seed Central Missouri later this week.
UNK tied Washburn and Missouri Western State for fourth place in the league standings but lost out on the tiebreaker.
The Lopers (29-19) and Mules (28-20) didn't play each other during the regular season. Last March, the teams split a four-game series at Memorial Field.
Single nine-inning games will be played Thursday (6:00 p.m.) and Friday (6:00 p.m.) at Crane Stadium with an "if necessary game" set for Saturday (2:00 p.m.). Rain day is Sunday, May 3rd; the series cannot be played past this day.
The UNK/UCM winner advances to the next round of the
MIAA Tournament (double elimination) May 7-9 at the CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City. The first round opponent will be either second-seed Emporia State or seventh-seed Lindenwood.
The winner of the MIAA Tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
