Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Senior guard Tember Schechinger scored 20 points and Northwest Missouri State shutdown Nebraska-Kearney, 62-32, Thursday night in Maryville.
With the win, the Bearcats (3-15, 1-11) snap an 11-game losing streak with UNK (9-9, 5-7) falling to 5-4 on the road.
In an 82-49 win over Northeastern State last Saturday, the Lopers scored 27 points in the fourth quarter. Tonight, they shot a season-low 23.4% (11 of 47) from the field and had quarter point totals of 6, 6, 11 and 9. Kearney also committed 19 turnovers, two off its season-high.

Bri Starks hit two early shots to give the Lopers a quick 4-0 lead. However, Northwest sunk its first three treys to grab a 15-6 first quarter lead and never looked back.
Making 45.3% (24 of 53) of its shots, the Bearcats also won the battle on the glass, 37-31, and finished 5 of 10 from the three point line.
"It certainly was disappointing. There was a lack of execution on both ends of the floor," said UNK assistant coach
Brandon Rohr. "We were outrebounded and also lost the turnover margin."
Her team's top player, Schechinger was 7 of 13 from the floor (2 of 3 threes) and 4 of 4 at the line to reach her game-high point total. She also had five defensive rebounds, three steals, two blocks and an assist.
Reserve forward Shelby Mustain (13) and starting guard Tanya Meyer (10) scored in double digits as well for the 'Cats.
"You have to go back to our first road trip of the season to find a game that we haven't been in. Give credit to Northwest for playing as hard as they did and for the game plan they had," said Rohr."

On Saturday afternoon, the Lopers play 5th-ranked Missouri Western State. The Griffons (18-0, 12-0) rallied from an 18-point halftime deficit tonight at home to rally past 3rd-ranked Fort Hays State, 77-75.
