Trey Lansman had another double double and the Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball team shot 51 percent to roll past Pittsburg State, 92-79, Thursday night in Kansas.
The MIAA opener for both, the Lopers (6-2) win a fourth straight while the Gorillas (1-7) have now dropped five in a row.
Leading from start to finish and by as many as 24 points, UNK saw Lansman (Harlan, Ia.) go for 24 points and 10 rebounds. Now with 991 points in his career, Lansman has three double doubles in the last four games.
About to become the 42nd Loper to reach 1k in points, Lansman had two double doubles over his first two years. To reach his point total tonight, he made 10 of 13 shots (0 for 1 threes) and went 4 of 4 at the line.
Kearney went 10 of 27 from behind the arc to lead 54-38 at the half and 84-60 with 7:14 to go. Pitt shot just 40 percent from the floor but did get a big night from six-seven senior wing Creighton Brinker (26 points and eight boards).
"I thought we played well for the most part. I would've liked to have finished better; we got a little stagnant against their zone," said Loper head coach
Kevin Lofton. "But we came out and answered the bell. The kids played at a high level, made plays, handled their pressure. It was fun to watch."
Guards Isaiah McKay (18) and
Yashua Trent (14) combined for 32 points on 12 of 21 shooting. Trent (Chicago) also had five assists, two steals and a block with McKay (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) at three dimes and four boards.

AJ Jackson (Bellevue West) grabbing a team-best two offensive rebounds.
Brinker carried Pitt by going 10 of 15 (5 of 7 threes) from the field. Six of his rebounds came on the defensive end as he worked around four fouls.
The Lopers head to Missouri Southern State on Saturday. The Lions (5-2) held off Fort Hays State tonight, 84-81.
