Baseball Renews RMAC Rivalries

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney baseball team will open up its 2016 season this weekend against nationally-ranked Colorado Mesa.

Due to weather and field conditions, the three-game series has been pushed back a day (Saturday-Monday). The games on Saturday and Sunday begin at 2:00 p.m. Central with the finale set for 2:30 p.m. Central.

The 9th-ranked Mavericks have yet to play in 2016. They posted a 48-9 mark last spring, going 1-2 in NCAA regional play. UNK hasn't played the Mavs since its final year (2012) in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

With last weekend's series at Metro State weathered out, UNK will remain in Colorado all next week and has thus added a game to its schedule. It will now play another former RMAC rival, Colorado State-Pueblo, on Wednesday (Feb. 17th) at 3:00 p.m. Central.

As scheduled, Kearney will play three games against RMAC member Regis University next Friday-Sunday (Feb. 19-21) in Denver. Check the Loper schedule page for media links.
