Lopers Drop Games to Missouri Schools

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney softball team fell to 7th-ranked Missouri-St. Louis, 7-0, and William Jewell College, 16-3 (6 innings), Saturday at the 8-State Classic in Bentonville, Ark.

UNK (4-5) ended the weekend 1-3 as Sunday's games against Minnesota-Duluth and Illinois-Springfield were rained out.

Against the unbeaten Tritons (10-0), UNK couldn't solve senior Hannah Perryman. She moved to 8-0 on the season by tossing a complete game two-hitter. Her sixth shutout of 2016, she fanned 14, walked just one and didn't hit a Loper.

Colorado sophomore Meg Housholder (2-3) also went the distance, fanning seven along the way. UMSL scored three in the second and then added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Offensively, junior center fielder Sara Kern hit two home runs to finish 2 for 4 with two runs and three RBI's.

Stats for the WJC game will be available early next week.

UNK heads to St. Cloud, Minn., next weekend for the annual Kelly Laas Memorial Invite.
