Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Missouri Southern State used 23 hits, including seven doubles, to salvage the last game of a series with Nebraska-Kearney, 16-7, Sunday afternoon at Memorial Field.
In a nearly 3.5 hour game, the teams combined for 23 runs on 35 hits, 12 walks and two hit batters. The 7th-ranked Lions are now 11-3 (3-3) with the Lopers (7-7, 5-1) losing for the first time in seven tries.
UNK led 6-3 after two innings as they scored three in the first and three more in the third. Sophomore catcher
Dallas Schramm (3 for 5, two runs) had an RBI double in the first with junior second baseman
Matt Salamon (2 for 5) having an RBI single in the third.
Lions reliever Andy Aspegren (1-0) then came in and allowed only one run over the next five innings. Using a side arm delivery, he fanned nine and walked just two while giving up three hits.
At the plate, Missouri Southern tied things by the sixth and then got an infield single with the bases loaded in the seventh to move ahead for good. They then erupted for six runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth.
A balanced attack saw leadoff hitter Richie Gorski go 4 for 6 with three runs and three RBI's with eight hole hitter Hayden Steele 4 for 5 with three runs and three RBI's. Gorski, a second baseman, finished a triple short of the cycle.

Brent Kirsch (Papillion) hit his second homer of the year in the eighth while redshirt freshman left fielder
Pate Katechis (Longmont, Colo.) went 2 for 5 with an RBI.
