UNK Belts Three HR's in Loss

Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Junior  lefty Brock Stuber threw seven strong innings and Central Oklahoma managed 19 hits to beat Nebraska-Kearney, 13-4, Friday evening at Memorial Field.

The Lopers (19-28, 16-22) tried to come back from a 6-0 deficit after three innings as sophomore designated hitter Dallas Schramm (Millard North H.S.) belted two home runs, pushing his season total to a team-high 12.

He (2 for 4, two runs) led off the fourth with a dinger to left center and then smacked a two-run shot to left in the eighth. In between, redshirt freshman left fielder Pate Katechis (Longmont, Colo.) hit a solo homer, his eight of the season, in the sixth.

Stuber (3-5) fanned six, walked two and allowed six hits over seven full innings. The only runs he allowed came on those solo shots. UNK got to reliever Zach Wunderlich in the eighth but then was held in check over the final 1.2 innings.

Offensively for the Bronchos (28-20, 20-17), second baseman and leadoff hitter Jake Dyer went 4 for 5 with left fielder T.J. Sparr 4 for 4 with three runs and three RBI's. Right behind Sparr in the order was right fielder Hunter Schellhardt (3 for 6, two runs & four RBI's).

Finally, Kansas junior center fielder and leadoff hitter Jacob Richardson went 2 for 3.

The series finale begins Saturday at noon.
