Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney swimming team fell to Morningside College, 122-73, and Iowa Central C.C., 97-73, Friday night in Sioux City, Ia.
This triangular also featured two men's teams with the host Mustang women beating ICC, 127-74. UNK is now 0-3 on the young season.
The Aqualopers won the first event of the night, the 400 medley relay. Junior
Summer Malsbury (North Platte), sophomore
Anna Yanke (Scottsbluff), freshman
Toni Lehr (Hutchinson, Kan.) and sophomore
Becca Shaw (Kansas City) swam a 4:25.21 to literally edge Morningside (4:25.71).
UNK would then go on to finish second in five events and third in another. Shaw turned in a 26.36 in the 50 free, Yanke was runner up in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.91) with Colorado sophomore
Caroline Stieglitz second in both the 100 butterfly (1:04.89) and 200 individual medley (2:26.00).
Kearney remains in Sioux City for the Mustang Invitational Saturday.
