Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney softball team was blanked by Rogers State (Okla.), 7-0, and Minnesota-Duluth, 8-0 (5 innings), Friday afternoon in Bentonville, Ark.

These games were part of the 8-State Classic hosted by Arkansas Monticello.

Against the RSU Hillcats (7-2) from the Heartland Conference, UNK got singles from freshman designated player Macey Nelson (Temecula, Calif.) and freshman relief pitcher Mallory Stoner (Platte City, Mo.).

Six-foot junior Megan Roswell improved to 5-1 with a 0.87 ERA for RSU as she tossed a two-hit complete game shutout. She fanned two, walked one and didn't hit a Loper in facing 24 batters.

Colorado junior Meg Housholder blanked RSU over the first three innings but second baseman Mikayla Waggoner and left fielder De'Leigh Emarthle (2 for 4) belted two-run homers in the fourth and fifth innings. Emarthale then hit a two-run double down the left field line in the sixth.

Housholder fanned four over four innings with Stoner going the last three sets, allowing two earned on three hits and a walk.

In the second game, UMD's Sam Hartmann threw a five inning complete game two-hitter. She struck out finve and didn't walk a Loper. Nelson and Lexington junior infielder Halle Gydesen had singles for UNK.

At the plate for the Bulldogs, second baseman Natalie Wright hit a three-run homer in the second and a run scoring double in the fourh. Duluth was efficient in scoring four times in those innings, ending the game with just seven hits.

UNK faces 18th-ranked Harding (Ark.) and Rockhurst (Mo.) on Saturday.
