Bradley Brown threw 6.2 strong innings and junior catcher
Dallas Schramm knocked in three runs to help Nebraska-Kearney beat Metro State, 6-3 (7 innings), in game two of a double header Saturday evening in Denver.
The Roadrunners out slugged the Lopers, 15-10, in the nine-inning opener. These were the first games of the 2017 season for both teams.

A transfer from Western Nebraska C.C. and a native of Aurora, Colo., Brown returned home and allowed just three earned runs on a walk, seven singles and two doubles. The lefty fanned six and blanked Metro in five innings.
At the plate, UNK scored twice in the first, fifth and sixth innings. Schramm (Millard North H.S.) had an RBI double down the left field line in the first, a run scoring double to right in the fifth and a sac fly to right in the sixth.

Josh Estrada (Houston) went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Finally, senior leadoff hitter and right fielder
Jacob Richardson (Goddard, Kan.) went 1 for 4 and scored twice.
The opener featured a combined 25 runs on 33 hits, eight walks, two hit batters, two balks and two passed balls. Both clubs belted three home runs with Metro scoring nine runs over the first three innings to lead throughout.

Kirk McLeod (2 for 4, two runs) had a three-run bomb in the second and Colorado sophomore left fielder
Pate Katechis (1 for 4, four RBI's) had a three-run dinger in the sixth.
Seven different 'Runners had multi-hit efforts, led by true freshman DH Dylan Nelson (3 for 5, three RBI's) who hit long balls in the third and eighth innings. Senior right handers Sean Moore and senior right hander Tony Yacovetta combined to throw 1.2 scoreless innings to stifle a late Loper rally.
The two teams play another double dip beginning Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Central.
