Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Pittsburg State Gorillas hit four home runs and got five shutout innings from junior reliever Nick Brown to beat Nebraska-Kearney, 16-5 (7 innings), Friday afternoon in Kansas.
With the win, the Gorillas (16-22, 10-14) take the series from the Lopers.
UNK (13-25, 6-19) held leads of 2-0 and 5-1 but Pitt tallied six runs in the third and scored three times in the second, fourth and fifth innings. After having 16 hits (five doubles) in Friday's 10-5 win, Pitt pounded out 19 hits (nine extra base) today.
A transfer from Missouri State, Brown (1-2) struck out a season-high 10 in tying his season-high inning total. He also walked three Lopers and allowed just one hit. In Friday's win, lefty reliever Cooper Gardner earned the win by throwing the final 5.1 innings.
Offensively, six Gorillas had a multi-hit day, led by left fielder Chase Kilgore (3 for 4, one run), right fielder Andrew Vogelbaugh (3 for 4, three runs) and designated hitter Ethan Schlesener (4 for 4, two runs). Each knocked in three runs with Vogelbaugh hitting dingers in the fourth and fifth innings.

Easton Edmond (Lincoln SW) hit a two-run homer and senior left fielder
Jacob Richardson (Goddard, Kan.) went 2 for 3 and scored twice.
