Box Score Kearney, Neb. – The Washburn baseball team managed only four hits but two of them were two-run homers as the Ichabods edged Nebraska-Kearney, 5-3, Sunday afternoon in Topeka, Kan.

With the win, WU (19-12, 11-9) took the series from the Lopers.

In the bottom of the first, junior shortstop Riley Krane belted his 11th dinger of the season down the right field line. Leadoff hitter Darian Abram drew a walk on a 3-2 pitch to start the inning. Washburn added an unearned run in the first and then right fielder Bowe Behymer hit his first long ball of the season in the third.

Finishing with seven hits, UNK scored single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings. They managed only one run base runner over the final three innings as the WU bullpen didn't allow a hit or walk.

Sophomore Josh Ramirez (2-0) picked up the win by allowing three earned on seven hits and two walks in six innings of work. Throwing 91 pitches, he fanned four Lopers. Illinois State transfer Marcus McKinney plunked a batter in the ninth but still earned his seventh save.

Redshirt freshman Peyton Pocock (Kearney H.S.) led the Lopers by throwing 3.2 innings of scoreless relief. He allowed no hits, walked two and fanned three in throwing 43 pitches.

Also out of the pen, Iowa senior Weston Glienke struck out four 'Bods in 1.1 innings. At the plate, freshman shortstop Calvin Rudolph (Millard South) went 2 for 4 with a run and RBI from the eight hole.

UNK's Tuesday game at NW Missouri State has been moved to Memorial Field due to likely rain in Maryville. That game will begin at 4:00 p.m. The Bearcats have taken the first two in the series.
