Box Score Kearney, Neb. – Southwest Baptist tallied three runs in the top of the ninth inning to slip past Nebraska-Kearney, 10-7, Thursday afternoon in Bolivar, Mo.

This series was flipped from UNK to SBU due to weather and also moved up a day. The Lopers will serve as the "home" team in each contest.

The regionally-ranked Bearcats (29-15, 19-12) pounded out 16 hits and got two scoreless innings of relief from sophomore Jay Kaufman to improve to 19-6 at home. By comparison, Kearney had only 14 games at Memorial Field this season.

UNK used the long ball to grab two early leads and tie the game at seven in the sixth. Junior right fielder Josh Estrada (Houston) hit a two-run shot in the first, junior catcher Dallas Schramm (Millard North H.S.), belted a three-run dinger in the third and sophomore left fielder Pate Katechis (Longmont, Colo.) hit a two-run bomb in the sixth.

However, SBU starter Brian Womack and Kaufman (4-1) allowed just four other hits and three walks. The pair also combined for five K's and saw their offense throw up a five spot in the fourth. 

In the top of the ninth, the two singles put runners at first and third with one out. Catcher and thee-hole hitter Hunter Hisky (3 for 4, one run, three RBI's) doubled down the left field line to record the game winning RBI's. He later came home thanks to a wild pitch and infield single.

SBU also got three hits from first baseman Cody Massey and second baseman Nelson Muniz.

Schramm paced UNK with another 2 for 4 day and was one of six starters to register at least one hit. On the mound, Kansas senior Sean Laughlin (2-1) threw a career 5.1 innings of relief and blanked SBU in three of them.

Weather permitting, a double header begins Friday at noon.
