Kearney, Neb. – The 12th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney wrestling team didn't lose a single match in racking up 198 team points to win four duals over junior college competition Friday at the Midwest Duals in Cushing Coliseum.

The two-day event, featuring close to 1,000 wrestlers from youth through college levels, began Friday at 9 a.m. in Cushing at the Health & Sports Center. Due to the winter storm on Thursday, today's college bracket had to be redrawn due to four cancellations.

UNK (13-1) used a team of top reserves today and that group managed 17 falls, five tech falls and four decisions. The Lopers forfeited at 184 pounds in each dual and were the beneficiary of 10 forfeits. Kearney rolled past Neosho County (50-6), Colby (51-0), Cloud County (46-6) and Labette (51-5), each a two-year school from Kansas. In the most recent NJCAA national rankings, Labette is 15th and Cloud 27th. Go HERE to see the results of each dual. 

Coming back from injury, Maryland senior Kevin Barrett (285 lbs.) had two wins by forfeit and falls in 44 seconds and 1:29. He is ranked seventh in the most recent Division II national rankings.

Next, South Carolina redshirt freshman Talon Seitz (165 lbs.) had falls in 29 and 31 seconds, respectively, with Oklahoma junior Jeff Bizzle (149 lbs.) having two tech falls by a combined score of 34-2. He also won by forfeit and had a 1:44 fall. Finally, Chadron junior Chance Bila (197 lbs.) had a 16-1 tech fall and a fall in 1:32.

On Saturday, the Loper varsity has four duals, highlighted by a 9 a.m. showdown with 19th-ranked Maryville. The Saints are led by former UNO head coach Mike Denney.

Cost of admission, per day, is $10 (adults) and $8 (seniors/youths). Kids 10 and under are free with senior pricing beginning at age 55. Those who have the UNK All-Sports pass or a Nebraska Coaches Association pass will also gain admittance; the passes must be shown to get in. Gates open around 8 a.m. (after skin checks and weigh-ins are completed).
