Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney Aqualopers closed out its home slate for the 2017-18 season with a
125-49 loss to Adams State Saturday afternoon at Kearney High.
UNK didn't have to worry about honoring any seniors today as the roster features six sophomores and two freshmen.
The lone Aqualoper win came in the 200 individual medley where Hartington sophomore
Addison Peitz swam a 2:26.08. The closest Grizzly was almost three second behind. Later, Peitz swam lead for the 200 free relay team that came in second (1:49.80).
Missouri sophomore
Becca Shaw was the anchor for that team and earlier was runner in the 500 free (5:52.18). Also coming in second were Colorado sophomore
Caroline Stieglitz in the 100 fly (1:05.03) and Oakland freshman Andrew Werner in the 200 free (2:13.69). To start the meet, Werner sang a
stirring rendition the "Star Spangled Banner."
UNK has two more meets, the Grinnell College Invite next weekend (Jan. 19-19) and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships next month in Texas.
