Week Seven Preview: First of Two Long Road Trips

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team beings a four-game road swing with a Friday night tilt at Lindenwood.

The Lopers (5-7-0, 3-2-0) are currently in a three-way tie for fourth place in the MIAA standings along with Missouri Western State and Fort Hays State (nine points apiece) No. 11 Central Oklahoma leads at 5-0-0 (15 points) with Emporia State three points back in second.  

After the game at LWU, UNK heads up the road to face defending national champion Central Missouri. Check the Loper schedule page for kickoff times and media links.

UNK is 2-3-1-0 all-time vs. Lindenwood and 0-6-1 against UCM who also is eight-time defending MIAA Champions. The Lopers fell 2-1 in overtime last fall to the Lions while the Jennies won in Kearney by a 4-0 score.

Omaha senior Ciera Clark and Norfolk junior Maddie Love are leading the Loper offense as they both have scored three goals. Love has taken a team-high 17 shots with Clark at 13. Both also have nine shots on goal to tie for first on the team.

When it comes to set plays, Hastings senior Kaitlyn Pawloski and Kansas sophomore Alexa Dayton have taken 15 corners apiece. Omaha junior Megan Merkel (11) has the next most with Missouri freshman Bridget Barker at seven.

The usual stingy Loper defense has allowed just 17 goals to date. UNK's allowing 12 shots per game with 11 of the scored goals coming in the second half.

Kearney has another long road trip next weekend as it heads to Missouri Southern State and Southwest Baptist.
