Aqualopers Shine in Home Quadrangular

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney Aqualopers swam past the Tabor (Kan.) College Bluejays, Midland University Warriors and College of St. Mary Flames Saturday afternoon at Kearney High.

This was UNK's annual quadrangular and also included men's teams from Tabor and Midland. The Aqualopers (4-0) outscored Tabor, 155-54, and Midland, 137-60, by big margins while having a closer battle with CSM, 126-86.

Kearney started things by winning the 200 medley relay in 2:00.69. Kansas freshman Claire Nash was the anchor here and then swam lead for the second place 200 free relay team (1:47.46). In between these races Nash was first in both the 100 (56.38) and 200 (2:06.86) free.

Next, Colorado junior Caroline Lewis-Stieglitz was UNK's other double winner, placing first in the 100 (1:07.54) and 200 (2:26.75) butterfly. The other Aqualoper to take the gold was Arizona sophomore Gabby Buttermore who turned in a 2:47.31 in the 200 breaststroke.

Finally, Lincoln junior Mikara Feit had a busy afternoon, finishing runner up in the 1,650 free (20:59.74) and 200 backstroke (2:26.93) and being the third leg on the 200 free team.
