Kearney, Neb. – The nationally-ranked Drury Panthers downed Nebraska-Kearney,
5-4 (men) and
8-1 (women) Sunday evening in Springfield, Mo.
The Loper men fall to 5-2 while the UNK women are now 7-1. Both Drury teams improve to 4-0.
On the men's side, Kearney led 2-1 after doubles but the Panthers won in three sets at number two, three and four singles to rally. UNK got straight set wins from Texas senior
Aaron Reekie (number six) and Spanish freshman
Alberto Diaz (number five) to make things interesting. Drury, however, won the three set matches by scores of 6-2, 6-3, and 6-3.
In the women's duals, Papillion senior
Emma Neil and Spanish senior
Amanda Alvarez won 9-7 at number three doubles to tally UNK's lone point. The Panthers took all six singles matches, three in three sets. The Lopers fell 11-9 at number six singles and 10-8 at number four.
UNK is now off until early March.
