Mitchell Robinson threw six strong innings and sophomore first baseman
Ty Roseberry went 4 for 6 with six RBI's to power Nebraska Kearney over Metro State, 15-2, Saturday afternoon in Denver.
The Lopers, finishing with 15 hits and taking advantage of eight walks and five Metro errors, led from start to finish. They tallied two runs in the first, three in the second and fifth innings, two more in the sixth and five in the seventh.
Robinson (Golden, Colo.) threw 87 pitches, 52 for strikes, and allowed two earned on five hits, three walks and one hit batter. Blanking the 'Runners in three innings, Robinson has now won 11 games as a Loper.
Also on the mound, junior relievers
Eric Sandoz (Austin, Texas) and
Josh Cooper (Roseville, Calif.) allowed just two hits and no walks over the final three innings.
Roseberry (Kearney), batting eighth in the lineup, had two, two-run doubles and a two-run single. Right behind him, redshirt freshman shortstop Pete Carlson (Arvada, Colo.) belted a two-run homer in the fifth.
Also having big days at the plate were Colorado junior third baseman
Alex Achtermann (3 for 5, three runs and two RBI's) and California junior left fielder
Brandon Hernandez (2 for 4, two runs).
The series finale is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. Central.
