Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball team could have its final true road games of the 2017-18 season when it heads to Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State this weekend.
By winning four of six, the Lopers (10-12, 6-7) are in a three-way tie for sixth place in the MIAA standings. At the end of the regular season, seeds five through eight host a conference tournament home game on Tuesday, February 27. First round winners advance to Kansas City for quarterfinal action on March 5.
The Bronchos (15-7, 8-5) and RiverHawks (7-15, 3-10), in an MIAA scheduling quirk, return to Kearney next week. Last year, UNK swept the season series from NSU while splitting the series with UCO. Overall, the Lopers are 9-2 all-time against the 'Hawks while being 3-10 vs. the 'Chos. Check the
mbb schedule page for tip times and media links.
Seniors
Trey Lansman (Harlan, Ia.) and
Ty Danielson (York) are both getting close to milestone point totals. Lansman (21.3 per game) needs 30 more points to become the seventh Loper with 1,900 while Danielson (11.7 pg) is 17 short of 1,200.
Both players also rank among UNK's all-time leaders in three pointers made, Danielson with 172 and Lansman at 155. Junior guard
Isaiah McKay (125) will likely join that list next year.
This year, UNK has its top four scorers all shooting 70% or better from the line; senior guard
Lane Rohrich (86.9), Danielson (85.9), Lansman (79.5) and senior guard
Yashua Trent (70.2). McKay (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) has also sunk all 11 freebies he's attempted, pushing his career percentage to 85.1.
