Home Win at Sunny Harmon

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney men's team swept Midland University, 9-0, Tuesday afternoon at Harmon Park.

Ranked sixth in the Central Region, UNK improves to 8-2 while the NAIA Warriors fall to 6-7. MU is led by former Loper stalwart John Steinke.

At number two doubles, senior Joey Richards (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and freshman Alberto Diaz (Spain) moved to 9-0 in the dual season thanks to an 8-2 victory. The duo is ranked sixth in the Central. While it didn't count towards the team score, true freshmen Logan Orr (Enid, Okla.) and Alvaro Moreno (Spain) won 8-3 at number four.

In singles, Diaz and junior Johnnie Carmichael (England) both won 6-0, 6-0 with Richards taking his number five match by a 6-1, 6-0 count. Carmichael is now a team-best 9-1 in the dual season including 5-0 at number three. Finally, Diaz improves to 8-1.

UNK hosts the 21st-ranked Washburn Ichabods Friday and Emporia State Saturday. Due to expected inclement weather, the WU dual has been moved to Grand Island with a 1 p.m. start.
