Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney men's golf team shot a 54-hole total of 899 to place sixth out of 14 teams at the annual Broncho Stampede Tuesday in Edmond, Okla.

This was UNK's final regular season tournament and the third "designated" MIAA event of the 2017-18 year. The two-day tourney was held at the par 72 Rose Creek Golf Club and hosted by Central Oklahoma.

In men's golf, the MIAA Champion is determined by an aggregate score over four MIAA designated events (two in the fall and two in the spring). The fourth and final such tourney is the MIAA Championships next week (April 23-25). Below are the current standings.

UNK had rounds of 294, 301 and 304 to beat five MIAA rivals as well as Southern Nazarene from the Great American Conference. Led by medalist Patrick McCarthy (3-under 213), Missouri Western State came in first with a solid 865. Nationally-ranked Central Missouri (879) was a distant second with Lindenwood and UCO (882) tying for third.

Just seven strokes separated the top three Lopers in Kearney sophomore Cody Troudt (12th; 4-over 220), Hebron junior Jay Cottam (17th; 6-over 222) and Bancroft senior Preston Peters (36th; 11-over 227). Peters was among the tourney leaders in pars (34) and Troudt finished with 11 birdies and was 5-under on par 5 holes.

Finally for UNK, Minnesota junior Jacob Baker tied for 60th (235), Kearney sophomore Austin Murray was 63rd (241) and English senior Bradley Hill (244) tied for 69th. Murray, who had nine birdies, played as an individual.
