Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's soccer team begins MIAA play this weekend with non-conference battles against Washburn and Fort Hays State.

The Lopers (2-2-0) are in a pod with the Ichabods (2-2-0), Tigers (1-2-1) and Emporia State. The first three meetings with each of these schools is "non-conference" with the second games counting in the league standings.

This year UNK hosts Washburn this Friday and then travels to Hays on Sunday and Emporia next Friday. The Loper then start MIAA play in Topeka next Sunday. Check the soccer schedule page for media links and kick times for the next week.

Coming off its second-ever 2-0-0 road weekend, UNK will now try and have its second straight winning record after the first five games. Last fall the Lopers were 3-1-1, joining the 2012 and 2010 squads – who both went 4-1 – as the only ones with winning records through the first five.

UNK currently has outshot its opponents, 45-41, while also having an advantage in corners, 17-11. Keepers Allie Prososki (Kearney Catholic) and Emily Thuss (Raymore, Mo.) have combined for 17 saves, 10 over the first 45 minutes, with just half of the opponent shots coming on goal.

Finally, 18 players have taken to the field junior Molly Willis (Kearney H.S.) the lone Loper to have gone all 360 minutes so far. Hastings senior Kaitlyn Pawloski (356) and Bellevue sophomore Megan Cook (350) rank second and third, respectively, in minutes played.
