Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

First 4-0 Start in 11 Years; Trip to Chadron on Tap

Kearney, Neb. – Ten different players scored as the Nebraska-Kearney women's basketball team rolled past Adams (Colo.) State, 70-41, Saturday evening in Hays, Kan.

The game was part of the Fort Hays State Crossover Tournament. The Lopers are 4-0 for the first time since the 2007-08 season; that squad finished up at 27-7. Meanwhile ASU falls to 0-4 and is 2-28 in its last 30 contests.

Now 22-1 all-time against a former Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) rival, UNK led 16-7 after quarter one and by a 40-17 count at the break. Overall the Lopers tallied 16 points off 19 ASU turnovers, made 12 three pointers and got 33 bench points.

The 12 treys are four off the school mark while the 31 attempts are the second most in Loper lore. The record for both makes and attempted threes came in a November 2017 win over RMAC member Colo.-Colo. Springs (16 of 38).

Everyone who suited up took to the court with Iowa sophomore forward Maegan Holt (16) and South Dakota freshman guard Trinity Law (10) reaching double figures. Holt went 6 of 10 from the field (2 of 4 threes) in 22 minutes with Law coming off the bench and making three field goals including two triples. Next Iowa freshman forward Madison Dreckman had eight points, five boards (four offensive) and two assists with Wahoo sophomore guard Aspen Jansa at nine points and two o-boards. Finally six different Lopers sunk a three in the win.

Adams State got 11 points and three assists from Illinois State transfer Zakiya Beckles.

UNK heads to Chadron State (1-3) Wednesday night.
