More Top 10 Efforts in Texas; Two Days Left

2/15/2019 12:04:00 AM

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney Aqualopers turned in four more all-time top 10 times Thursday at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championships in Lewisville, Texas.

The four-day meet began Wednesday morning and runs through Saturday night. Each day includes swimming and diving preliminaries in the morning followed by event finals and relays in the evening session. Time trials, both individual and relay, are held after both sessions.

UNK had a productive morning as Lincoln junior Mikara Feit (200 backstroke), Hartington junior Addison Peitz (400 individual medley), Oakland sophomore Andrea Werner (100 butterfly) and Kansas freshman Claire Nash (200 freestyle) all moved up or onto the schools all-time top 10 lists in their respective event.

In a two-person time trial, Feit swam a 2:18.76 to now rank sixth in Aqualoper lore. Nash managed a 2:01.30 to move up three spots to fourth in the 200 free; she came in 26th place overall and just missed reaching the "C" finals. Next, Werner had a 1:01.22, the fifth best time in the 100 fly and good enough to qualify for the "C" finals. There she turned in a 1:01.34 to finish 23rd. Finally, Peitz had a 5:03.05 to finish 30th in the 400 I.M. Like Nash she vaults up three spots to sixth on the all-time list.

UNK also had two strong showings in the relays during the evening session. Both efforts were just off school record pace. Feit, Peitz, Werner and Nash came in eighth in the 200 free (1:41.40) with Arizona sophomore Gabby Buttermore joining Feit, Werner and Nash to finish ninth in the 400 medley (4:10.26). Finally, two "B" relay teams picked up a total of four more team points.

The action resumes Friday at 9:30 a.m.
