Lopers to Play in Another Dome Tournament

2/26/2019 2:33:00 PM

Kearney, Neb. – The schedule for the Nebraska-Kearney softball team has changed once again due to inclement weather.

The Lopers (1-7) were slated to head to Joplin, Mo., this weekend for the annual Teri Mathis-Zenner Memorial Tournament. Instead, UNK will head due East to Peoria, Ill., for the Springfield Invite on Thursday and Friday. Illinois-Springfield serves as host inside the Peoria Slugger Dome.

UNK will face the UIS Prairie Stars (9 a.m.) and Lewis Flyers (1 p.m.) on Thursday and the Quincy Hawks (7 a.m.) and Purdue-Northwest Pride (9 a.m.) on Friday.

Already this season the Lopers have seen three road tournaments canceled or changed due to weather and field conditions. Kearney began the year by playing four games inside the Husky Dome in Minnesota and then took apart in a hastily scheduled tournament in Conway/Russellville, Arkansas, the weekend of February 16-17.

Weather permitting UNK starts MIAA play next weekend with double headers at Southwest Baptist and Central Missouri.
