Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney softball team is moving its home openers to Great Bend, Kan., this weekend due to weather and field conditions.

The Lopers (2-10) will now play Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern State in MIAA double headers on Sunday/Monday, March 17-18, at Barton Community College. The first game will start at 12 p.m. on both days. These contests were originally set to be played March 15-16 at Patriot Park.

Since the start of the 2018 season, due to weather, UNK has had eight true home games and now 10 "home" neutral site games in either Hays or Great Bend, Kan. Additionally, the 2019 Loper schedule has been changed in five of the first six weekends because of inclement weather.

Weather permitting, the 2019 home opener will now be Friday, March 29, vs. No. 4 Central Oklahoma.
