Lopers Fall to No. 27 SBU; Home Outdoor Opener Thursday

Kearney, Neb. – The 27th-ranked Southwest Baptist Bearcats won five singles matches to down Nebraska-Kearney, 6-1, Monday afternoon in Bolivar, Mo.

SBU improves to 7-4 (3-1) while UNK falls to 12-11 (1-5). This dual was originally set to be played on Saturday but was moved back due to weather conditions.

The tandem of Missouri senior Camryn Parnell and Papillion sophomore Claire Neil got the Lopers started on the right foot as they took their number three doubles match, 6-2. However, the 'Cats allowed just three points in the other doubles battles to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Neil again responded right off the bat as she won at number six singles, 6-0, 6-0, to knot things up at one. This marks her third dual win this season without allowing a single point. Like it did in doubles, SBU responded well as they won the next five singles matches, all in straight sets. The top three 'Cats in the order are all ranked between 17th-57th nationally.

UNK finally gets a chance to play at Harmon Park when it hosts Fort Hays State on Thursday afternoon. That dual was supposed to be played Wednesday but has moved back due to expected rain. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
