MIAA Winter Academic Qualifiers Announced

Kearney, Neb. – A large number of Nebraska-Kearney winter sport student-athletes have been honored for their classroom work.

The MIAA today released Excellence Award, Scholar Athlete and Academic Honor Roll qualifiers for the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track and field and wrestling. Note the cumulative grade point averages and majors of study are through the fall semester of 2018.

The Excellence Award goes to those with a 4.00 cumulative grade point average, Scholar Athletes maintain at least a 3.50 GPA while also being named to their respective All-MIAA team (all-league criteria alters by sport) this past winter while Honor Roll qualifiers post at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA. Finally, a student-athlete needs two semesters at their current school to qualify for any of these awards.

Overall, UNK had two Excellence Award winners, 10 Scholar Athletes and 72 Honor Roll qualifiers. True freshmen and first-year transfers in each of these sports will be honored in the summer if they qualify.
