2019 Blue Gold Classic Winners Announced

Kearney, Neb. - Below is the list of winners for the 2019 Blue Gold Golf Classic, held Monday, June 3, at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course.

This was the 30th edition of a tournament that benefits UNK student-athlete scholarships. Around 125 golfers took part with the event starting at 10 a.m. and wrapping around 3 p.m. Among the changes this year was going from sixsomes to foursomes and the scramble tournament taking place at a single course.

On Sunday, June 2, a banquet was held at Kearney's Holiday Inn for golf participants and Loper fans. The program included short speeches by former UNK student-athletes Dusty Jura (men's basketball), Jade Meads Brown (women's basketball), Krista Sheldon Fritson (softball), Shaun O'Rourke Heimstra (volleyball and tennis), Frank Kuchera (wrestling), Brett Wetton (football and track & field) and former Athletic Director/men's golf coach Dick Beechner. He started the Blue/Gold during his tenure as Loper A.D.

Finally, a campaign ("Fund It") was announced that night to purchase portable basketball hoops for the H & S Center; fans can donate on-line and receive UNK Under Armour apparel as well as a matted Loper Athletics photo of their choice.
