UNK and Wayne End Up Tied

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney and Wayne State women's teams fought to a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium at Foster Field.

The game was part of the fourth annual UNK Fall Classic. In the early contest Minnesota State-Moorhead scored less than two minutes in en route to a 3-0 win over Harding (Ark).

After battling Moorhead to a draw on Friday night, the Lopers fell to the same result this afternoon. In a game where Wayne State (0-1-1) had slight edges in shots, 11-6, corners, 6-3, and possession, 53%-47%, UNK saw two goals waved off due to an offside call and a foul on the Wildcat keeper.

"With such a young team there's a lot of positives to take away from the first weekend. It's not easy to play back-to-back double overtime games," UNK head coach Chloe Roberts said. "I'll have to check the video to see exactly what happened on those disallowed goals."

Wayne also had a couple of excellence chances to score but one shot went high and hit the post while Loper senior keeper Allie Prososki (Kearney Catholic) came out in a one-on-one situation and managed to just deflect a shot taken by Megan Phillips. She ended the day with a game-high six shots, five being on goal.

The Lopers got three shots from South Dakota junior Kassidy Kirsch with Omaha freshman Emma Weis and Omaha senior Megan Merkel having shots on goal. Finally, Prososki stopped nine saves in her second shutout of the fall.

UNK heads to Colorado Mesa next weekend to face the CMU Mavericks and the Western Colorado Mountaineers.
