Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Spring Season Begins at UNO

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's tennis team began its spring season with a 6-1 exhibition loss at Division I Nebraska-Omaha Friday afternoon.

The Lopers remain 5-1 while this was a countable dual for the Mavericks (2-1).

UNK, playing for the first time since October, got a 7-6 (10-8) win from Papillion junior Claire Neil and Kansas freshman Brooklyn Hunter at number two doubles. However UNO won two of the next three close calls, taking number four and five singles in three sets.

Lincoln sophomore Fidan Ibrahimova recorded UNK's team point with a 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3) win from the third spot in the order. Hunter wasn't so lucky at number four singles against Savanna Crowell (6-0, 5-7, 1-0; 10-5) with Neil suffering the same fate at number five (6-4, 5-7, 1-0; 10-3). UNO won the other singles matches in straight sets.

UNK was supposed to head over to Des Moines on Saturday to face Upper Iowa but that dual was been postponed. The Lopers next match thus comes in two weeks vs. the Harding (Ark.) Bison in Springfield, Mo.
