Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney softball team returns to the Lone Star state this week to take part in the Midwestern State Texas Invitational.

The three-day tournament will be held on the MSU campus in Wichita Falls with UNK (3-3) having two games on both Friday and Saturday. Live stat links are below for each game; no live video will be available.

The Loper opponents this weekend are members of the Lone Star (LSC) and Great American (GAC) Conferences. The host Mustangs (0-7) and Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers (0-4) have yet to win a game while the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers have yet to take the field in 2020. Finally the Cameron (Okla.) Aggies are off to a 5-5 start. In the preseason LSC poll CU was picked fourth with MSU 12th. Over in the GAC, NW Okie was tabbed ninth with SWOSU coming in 12th.

UNK is currently batting .303 and averaging just under six runs per game. Omaha sophomore outfielder Jasmyn Broussard (.545) and Kearney senior infielder Kaitlyn Johnson (.462) lead in batting average with the pair two of the nine Lopers with an RBI to date. In the circle UNK has already used five pitchers with sophomore southpaw Shae Muggridge (Western Australia) set to make her Blue & Gold debut this weekend. She previously was at McCook C.C.

The Lopers remain on the road next weekend when they head to OKC for the Edmond Regional Festival III.
